At St. Joseph’s Academy, we believe in empowering the Dalit community through education, nurturing future leaders, scholars, and changemakers. To achieve this, we have set forth a rigorous training program with high standards of discipline and commitment. We seek the full cooperation of both students and parents to ensure success.
This program does not carry a cost, though contributions will be graciously accepted to support the program's sustainability.
Commitment to Discipline: Students must be prepared to undergo intensive training and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the Seedlings (Paadashala) program.
Vision for Social Change: Students should see themselves as future champions for the Dalit community. Upon completing their training, they are encouraged to dedicate their lives to uplifting these marginalized groups.
Passion for Learning: A genuine eagerness to learn is essential, as is a readiness to challenge social injustices like caste discrimination and untouchability.
Dedication to Empowerment: Students must possess a strong determination to make Dalit empowerment a tangible reality and actively work toward this goal.
Eligibility: Applicants must be over 10 years old, have attended an English medium school, and exhibit a hopeful vision for a brighter future.
Service-oriented Spirit: Obedience, sound health, and a strong commitment to serve are core values that every student must embody.
Participation in the Summer Camp: Students are required to attend the Summer Camp held in the month of May each year as part of their training and growth.
Campus and Continued Education: St. Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, along with its campus facilities, will fully support students in their academic journey. After completing school, they will continue to stay in Porur village to pursue undergraduate studies at a nearby college.
Visitation Guidelines: Parents and siblings may visit frequently during the first year. Afterward, visits will be limited to significant life events, such as the passing of a parent or sibling.
Parental Involvement: Parents are encouraged to contribute to their child's journey, with one parent allowed to volunteer for a week each year to assist with student needs.
Dreams of Greatness: Students must stay in Porur village with three key aspirations:
Continuous Growth: Students are expected to show progress in all aspects of their training. Failure to demonstrate improvement may result in removal from the program the following year.
Time Management: Time is a precious resource, and students must commit to using it wisely and productively.
Parental Support: The success of this program relies on the unwavering cooperation and involvement of parents in fostering their child's growth and commitment to this noble cause.
