Samacheer Kalvi Exam System

Uniform Syllabus:

The curriculum and textbooks are standardized for all schools under the Tamil Nadu State Board, ensuring consistent learning materials and assessments.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE): The exam system includes both formative and summative assessments, focusing on overall student development. Formative assessments (like projects, assignments, and quizzes) are conducted throughout the year, while summative assessments are term-end exams.

Board Exams

Grade 10 (SSLC): Students appear for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam at the end of Grade 10, which is crucial for transitioning to higher secondary education.

Grade 12 (HSC): At the end of Grade 12, students take the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam, which is critical for college admissions and professional courses.

Focus on Conceptual Understanding: The exam system emphasizes understanding core concepts rather than rote learning. Questions often test students’ comprehension and application of knowledge, promoting critical thinking.

Marking and Grading: Students are evaluated on their academic performance using a grading system. High scores in the SSLC and HSC exams play a significant role in gaining admission to higher education institutions.
